Exploring science park location choice: A stated choice experiment among Dutch technology-based firms

Technology development is increasingly important for creating efficient and sustainable economies. Policy-makers have encouraged the co-location of technology-based firms that could lead to innovation benefits. One policies are science parks, area developments where firms, universities research institutes co-locate. Science parks enable focus on their core activities. However, trade-off make regarding park location choice impact organisational characteristics these trade-offs unknown. To collect tenant preference data, an exploratory survey with a stated experiment distributed among both off in Netherlands. This approach allows estimation utilities assign design-related attributes willingness pay attributes. Results show tenants prefer locations within same area, shared business support leisure facilities near station relatively more than off-park counterparts do. Tenant most eager proximity university followed by provided R&D facilities, accessibility location, technological lastly events held area.
